Creating and sponsoring the Virginia Valentine award for Cultural Insights was something that didn’t really take much thinking through. Not only is the award a natural fit for us, and a chance to celebrate those leading the way in cultural insights, it is, most importantly, a homage to a truly brilliant, paradigm-shifting semiotician and cultural analyst.
Virginia Valentine - known as Ginny to those close to her - was a pioneer of commercial semiotics, as well as being instrumental in establishing the discipline at Truth Consulting during the early days of the agency. Her legacy still runs deep here. Ginny’s way of thinking about language, meaning, and brands helped shape who we are and continues to guide us today.
At Truth, we’ve always been inspired to work at the intersection of culture and commerce; making a difference through unwrapping the layers of meaning that make people and brands who and what they are. Always looking for those strands of commercial value and helping brands stand out and truly connect.

We’re thrilled to honour her legacy by sponsoring the MRS Virginia Valentine Cultural Insights Awards and wish all genuine research revolutionaries the best of luck with your submissions now and in the future.
