Our second podcast recorded live at Disruptive Futures at SXSW London is now out for you to watch and/or listen to. In the session, Mark Thorpe (Head of Thought Leadership at Truth) and Laura Barber (Founder of The Ripple Impact and who has held leadership roles in a range of blue-chip organisations) discussed how brands need to show up in a world rippling with 'nervous systems' and radical uncertainty. Our current situation is much more than a perma-crisis; it is a fundamental disruption of all the major pillars that govern the lives we lead.
Key take-aways:
Meaning matters and we need to be super-careful about trying to replace human meaning with 'artificial intelligence'.
Culture should not be seen as a problem; it is the lifeblood of brands and we should embrace it in all its messiness.
Brands need to have a long-term vision; short-termism is destructive - of brands and businesses.
Authenticity will be harder and harder to achieve - brands most move beyond process and models and work harder to feel and reflect emotional connection.
The future will require boldness, bravery and an embracing of the human in all of us.
